A private equity fund wanted to identify countries in Europe for renewable energy investment. I spent several months on the project as part of the team carrying out the analysis.
Building the country benchmark
We looked at macroeconomic conditions, energy trends, regulation and periods with negative electricity prices. We went into detail across the countries to understand which offered more favourable conditions for investment.
The output was a country benchmark that brought those analyses together.
How I learned from the work
From my junior position, I could see how managers and partners took the client's request and broke it down into a project and a deliverable. Working on that detailed analysis helped me develop a more structured, deeper and more analytical way of looking at markets and investment opportunities.
